Feeling spacey? Want an energy boost? Drop your anchor!

An anchor is…a principal support and a dependable mainstay that holds us steady. When we are anchored we are informed and alive to the moment. In this space, our natural insights are colorfully available. In this space we are grounded and protected from excess energy or vibrations that are not our own.

Love offers the strongest of fortification and since we are all divinely loved, we have a level of energetic protection flowing through us at all times. Learning techniques such as the one below fortifies this protection. Additionally, it can also help increase energy, diminish spaciness, and heighten productivity.

For those of us who are especially sensitive, it can help us maintain our boundaries which beautifully protect us, energetically speaking.When we are soundly anchored, we are more wholly present and alive to the moment. Our neighbor’s moodiness, our girlfriend’s divorce and our step-son’s poor grades remain part of their story, not ours.

Setting Anchor

Record this short and effective grounding exercise on your phone. Hit play, close your eyes and follow along.

Sit or stand with your back straight and both feet planted firmly on the floor. Look down at your feet and notice how they feel and what shoes, if any, you are wearing. Your breath should remain long, slow and even throughout this exercise. Note the clothing you are wearing including colors, textures and length. How do you feel physically and emotionally? No need to judge or alter your mood, just notice.

Move your feet gently back and forth three of four times. Raise your hands in the air, fingers reaching to the sky then bring them slowly down and lightly shake them as if removing cookie crumbs from your fingers. Next place your palms on your knees and rotate clockwise three times as if buffing your kneecaps. Now switch directions and rotate your palms counterclockwise on your knees. Firmly press your palms onto your knees then rest your hands, palms up on your thighs.

Close your eyes and inhale deeply through your nose to the count of eight while filling your lungs completely; next exhale through your nose to the count of eight emptying your lungs entirely. Pay attention to the sound of your breath and the way it feels as it moves through your nostrils. Repeat this three times.

Next imagine an iridescent white light streaming down from the Universe through a thin, clear, silver thread. Visualize the light flowing rapidly through the top of your head, connecting to the base of your spine and making its way through every inch of your body, leaving a light white mist as it moves its way down through the soles of your feet. The light carries a slight energetic charge that feels like a splash of spearmint inside you.

Envision the white light as it threads itself down and out from the bottom of your feet and drops swiftly and deliberately through the crust of the earth through the gigantic core of sold metal where it firmly anchors itself.

You are still able to feel the spearmint charge in your feet and this attaches and anchors you to the thread that is now connected to the core of the earth.

Inhale deeply and as you exhale, slide your feet back and forth two or three times, lift your hands to the sky and place them together, palm to palm as you bring them down to rest at your heart. 

Consider yourself anchored!

For a quick reboot later in the day, slide your feet back and forth on the ground a few times while listening to the sound of your breath.
