Tips to Help You Lull Your Fear and Find Your Peace this Holiday Season!

This Holiday season is the first of its kind. The COVID-19 pandemic has changed the way we gather, dine, shop and celebrate. Thankfully, chances are there will not be a year exactly like this for a very long time if ever. Let’s make the best of it. This means we can stick to the tried and true OR make up all new rules for celebrating the Holidays!

Let’s fill ourselves with grace, and get creative. There are things to be grateful for and focusing on them can help magnetize more of the good stuff our way!

I was recently on a fabulous TV show airing in the Midwest, Twin Cities Live talking about ways to navigate the unknowns and the Holidays with grace, humor and gratitude!

Keep it simple and try these things on for size!

1.    Be flexible

•         This holiday season is like something we’ve never experienced before. It’s ok to bend the rules and try new traditions. It’s our childhood dream realized…this means WE get to make up the rules!

•         Why not do things that are easy, pleasing, and include no messy clean up!

•         Most of all, why not make this Holiday season about showing those we love how well love travels!  Love is the most resilient forces in existence! Your love has a whole lot of power…share it often!

2.    Be Present

•         The theme for this Holiday season is not presents it is presence!  Not presents as in gifts… presence as in being present.  Being present is a lovely way to HUG PEOPLE WITH YOUR WORDS. Being present minded is being in the here and now, centered and mindful.

When in the presence of someone physically or virtually, be present, meaning really show up for the conversation.

3.    Be Patient

•         Allow yourself time to process the pressure. Life is challenging for most of us. It’s okay to feel however you are feeling. Process as much as you can and move on.  Once the pandemic is behind you, time and perspective will help you unpack the stuff you stuffed. Know that you are not alone, we are all in this together. This is how you to Lull your fear and find your peace.

• Pay attention to all of your senses. What you see, hear, smell, feel and taste deserve some love. Take time for you and fill all of your senses with Holiday related good stuff! Make sure to radiate gratitude.

•         Take the pressure off yourself! Just as people served pizza or steak for Thanksgiving do something fun and easy for meals.

• Fill yourself with GRACE and GRATITUDE. Feel the magnificence in knowing that the power to make you happy is yours. It doesn’t necessarily change what’s happening on the outside but it does change what’s happening on the inside.

If you like to dress up, do!

If you want to celebrate is sweats or PJS, go for it!

Do rapid a successions of calls to loved ones one right after the other, five or ten-minutes in length. It’s virtual speed-hugging with your words.

Send a fun gift to everyone you typically celebrate the Holidays with. Do a Zoom call and watch them open their gifts!

Take your friends with you caravan-style and COVID-careful and drive through neighborhoods with beautiful Holiday lights.

Make some form of charitable giving a year-long thing & feel the energy of it lift you higher and higher.

Look for beauty everywhere.

Let life love you. Inhale. Exhale. Loosen the hold you have on what is “supposed to be” and just be.
