Kids…I’m a Medium

Cole blogAaron blog01080046

I was on an airplane headed home from San Diego one weekend years ago, pondering how to start sharing more about my mediumship with my children. I haven’t kept it a secret by any means but I also have not discussed it at length.

Feeling our feelings and honoring our insights is a big deal in our home and that pleases me (and my husband) a great deal. When I was pregnant with our first born, I was conscious of the importance of making sure our children could happily mainstream. My choice was and is not to drench them with too much of even a good thing such as info about intuition! They would come to it on their own.

I have three beautiful, loving, talented children.

Every day we talk about how loved they are, just as they are.

When they were little we began playing intuition-building-games together while waiting for our food at restaurants. To onlookers it must have appeared as though we were playing “I SPY!”

On some level, they all grasp that people don’t disappear when they die and that the soul, meaning spirit, lives on. They grew up with the knowledge that the spirit of Grandpa Marshall, Colleen and even our dog Baci, all deceased, can feel the love we have for them in our hearts and even visit us through that love.

Love never dies.

Ever.

What I’ve not discussed is that the second I hear someone’s name, whooshes of personal information about them zip by and through me and that I choose to ignore it most of the time. The reason is, unless I’m working, it’s not actually my business.

My kids would not be surprised to hear that I can sense how the chef was feeling emotionally speaking as they prepared our food.

What they don’t know is that when we drive through a neighborhood, any neighborhood, I can instantly sense if a house is haunted and often by whom.

That-tickle-on-your-nose is me

Actions truly do speak louder than words. Through my actions, I’ve shown my children how much I love people and that it is through that love that I work.

Now that I am diving deeper into explaining my mediumship, what I want them to realize is that I can feel, with everything I am, the amount of love every single person has actively within them and it is glorious. The focus of my work is to help people increase their capacity to love and to learn to share it in full. I do this through reading energy and it includes the energy of those in spirit.

I’m a medium after all.

So back to my conversation with my children. This is what I have so far…It is my own rendition of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow’s poem, There was a Little Girl.

There was a little girl who had a little curl right in the middle of her forehead. When she was good, she was very, very good. And when she was sad she was very, very sad. Feeling in extreme is her nature…you see, this curly girl is a medium!

Not everyone with curly hair is a medium & not all mediums have curly hair but they are all feelers in extreme. They feel their emotions in stereo! And they all have an innate capacity to sense the energy of those in spirit.

Some day I will tell them that psychics can sense, to various degrees what was, what is, and what may be. All mediums are psychic but not all psychics are mediums. Both mediums and psychics can be highly sensitive and empathic. They feel everything at high volume. But mediums additionally are so sensitive to vibration they are capable of communicating with those in spirit. You know, those most consider “dead”.

As a result of being so sensitive, my boundaries easily become completely skewed when I’m in a crowd for too long. I feel restless, agitated and occasionally grouchy! Knowing where my space begins and where it ends keeps me from feeling everyone’s feelings so I work on that every day.

For now, when discussing boundaries I decided to say this…When we absorb too much of what isn’t ours, the best part of us feels squished out.

What isn’t ours is other people’s feelings. It’s healthy to feel our own and it’s wise to allow other people the space they need to feel theirs.

extra ordinary grace

My children have witnessed me in overload and they’ve witnessed me climb out of it so I know this will all make sense to them.

I’ve worked long and hard to build and maintain decent boundaries. Healthy boundaries are, in my opinion, the foundation of a happy life.

I live what I love so what I love truly fills my life and my intuition helps me get there. That is what I wish for my children. Whether they align with being sensitive, a psychic, a medium, or just curly or maybe wavy and sweet, I’m good. I’ve done my job.

Go MN News (Now Bring Me The News) wrote an article about me and my work as a medium. Here’s the Link!

Here’s one of my favorite parts!

“I never wanted to interview Livon in order to prove or disprove her abilities as a psychic medium – only to tell her story as an interesting person from Minnesota.

So I’ll say this: Whether you believe in psychic powers or not, Livon’s ability to give accurate details about my life, my personality, and even my dog, was pretty remarkable.”
